This e-book is a guide on how to get into Affiliate Marketing the right way. I am going to go into the basic concepts of affiliate Marketing that I wish someone had told me about before I ever started anything related to affiliate marketing. One of the first things I’d like to emphasize on is something that you might already know, which is: Most of the “one click automated Software” is useless. Some of these one click programs do give you good ideas that can be helpful but the actual software you can do without most of the time. So that being said I‘d like you tot forget about going through all those easy, get cash fast Systems. Most affiliate marketers will not get Money fast or easily especially just from their first website or Niche. As you have probably already gotten used to in your life, most good things don’t come easy. So get ready to organize your schedule, tidy your surroundings, find a comfy position in you chair and most importantly clear your mind for just a couple of seconds. Now, I’m going to start you off from the stuff that most people miss out on and end up getting confused, fed up and sometimes giving up often just due to not being organized enough to carry on with all the “useless” work piling up. Getting Started You might find some of these methods obvious but I know that they are essential. I suggest you keep these close by when working: •A pencil or two •Sharpener •Rubber •Ruler •At least 3 different colored biros •Lined paper •Blank paper •A clipboard •Notepad •Credit card or Paypal account Software Needed: •Google Chrome •Mozilla Firefox •Microsoft Excel or the equivalent •Microsoft Word or the equivalent •Photoshop or the equivalent •Notepad or the equivalent Creating your Affiliate Management System Open Microsoft Excel (or equivalent) Create these tabs: 1.One time fees 2.Recurring monthly expenses 3.[The name of your website or niche] Keywords example: affiliateworld.com keywords 4.ClickBank Products to promote 5.Important Links 6.Login Details Affiliate marking will require you to manage a lot of information like usernames, links, Email addresses, products, and images and so on… It is very important to backup your work often and have more than one backup on separate physical hard drives and I also recommend using an A-Z phonebook not to put in peoples Phone numbers but to put in all your important information. For example for your Aweber account, write Aweber as the title and the username and password under it. Put this info under “a”. Start entering this Data in the columns of each of these tabs in Microsoft excel: 1. One Time Fees: •Date, Title, Notes, Price $, Pending Refunds, Refunded, Total, Total Pending 2. Recurring Monthly Payments: •Date, Title, Notes, Price $, Total Monthly (January for example) Crate a [Total monthly box] for every month. Update these every month 3. Keywords •Domain/Niche Name 1, Domain/Niche Name 2, Domain/Niche Name 3 4. Products •Hop Link, Category, Affiliate web Link, Product Name, Youtube Video Code 5. Important Links •Link, Ref ID, Name, Username, Password, Description 6. Login Details •Web Link, Ref ID, name, Username, Password, Description 1.Create a folder somewhere you can access easily like your desktop. 2.Rename it to something related to you affiliate marketing niche 3.Inside this folder create these folders and sub folders: A. DOMAIN NAME a1. Images •Banners •Icons •Resources a2. Excel Backups a3. Website Backups a4. Products •Product1 oImages oBanners oDocuments •Product 2 oImages oBanners oDocuments New folders will be added as you go along depending on which method you choose. Choosing your Niche Now that you have everything set up to get started, choose your niche. Go to www.clickbank.com and create an account if you don’t already have one. After you have created and confirmed your account go to www.clickbank.com and click on marketplace. On the left hand side of the page you will see a list of categories. Chose a category that interests you or that you have some knowledge about preferably. Once you’ve chosen your niche begin to browse products related to your niche. A good idea is to sort the products by Gravity (a measurement of density of the number of the product sold in recent months). A product with low gravity does not mean that it is bad. Maybe it is new and hasn’t had time to increase. At the same time a product with high gravity does not necessarily mean that it is good or legitimate. It might be a poor quality product that has been out for some time and still manages to pull in buyers either with false claims or manipulation. So review the product well before you decide to promote them. Visit the products page by clicking on the title of the product on clickbank. Also visit the products affiliate page (if the specific product has one) which you can find in the product description on clickbank. In the products affiliate page save any good information that you can use to promote the product. Go through more products in this way while filling in the products details in you excel sheet under the Products tab: Hop Link, Category, Affiliate Web Link, Product Name, Youtube Video Code. Also save the banners/ images and any other media in their corresponding folders. Example:- Products •Product 1 - Images - Banners- Documents Now search for some basic info on the product. Re-write the information in your own words and save it to its designated folder. Find a Youtube video of the product that you’re promoting Copy the videos embed code into the excel sheet for Reference. Creating your website using Joomla Once you have a good number of products to promote the next step requires you to begin creating your niche website. There are a number of ways to create your website but in this guide I will explain how to create a website using my preferred method through my preferred software: Joomla [1.7] Follow these steps: 1.Sign up for Joomla here: http://demo.joomla.org/#signup 2.Create an account with Joomla through the link that you are sent by Email 3.Don’t forget to take note of the username and password that you selected 4.I suggest immediately transferring your Joomla account to your Hosting provider like “Siteground” in order not to lose any data by transfer. 5.Purchase a domain name: (more details below) 6.You can use any hosting provider that has an updated control panel that includes the “fantastico de luxe” feature. •Purchasing a domain: Search for a domain availability tool in Google. Try entering different domain names to check if they are available. Ideally the Domain name must contain words that correspond to the main keywords that you’ll choose for your website For example if your website offers software, help and tips for affiliate marketers some examples of domain names would be: affiliatetips.com or affiliate-marketers-guide.com. Also consider purchasing a domain name for a period of two years or more. This is because Google tends to Rank websites higher if they think that the website will be online for longer. IMPORTANT! While creating content for your website take a look at the Keywords section on page 18 to make sure your website’s content will be search engine optimized. Preparing for Facebook Amazon Affiliate account. Link: https://affiliate-Program.amazon.com/gp/flex/associates/apply-login.HTML EBay Affiliate account. Link: www.ebaypartnernetwork.com Aweber account ($1 first month - $19 recurring) Link: https://www.aweber.com/order.htm What I also recommend you doing is buying Income Hybrid even if you Refund it. You have up to 60 days from purchase date to use it and get a refund. Income hybrid is a tool that makes creating Facebook fan Pages much easier. Basically you’ll have to fill in a few steps where you enter your Amazon Affiliate ID, EBay affiliate ID and your Aweber code (to get subscribers). For more info on how to get your Aweber Auto responder code go to page 20. So if you decide to use income hybrid to create your fan pages (which also come with tutorials) you can create your FB Fan pages before the 60 day money back guarantee expires and get a refund by sending you clickbank receipt to: refunds@clickbank.com and you should get a reply within a couple of days after stating that the total amount spent on the product has been refunded. Creating your Facebook FanPage Visit: www.facebook.com/pages/create.PHP and choose your category. Most affiliate marketers select “Company, Organization or Institution”. After you have selected your category and followed the rest of the steps go to the search bar in Facebook and search for: “Static HTML” and add install it to your account. Now on the left of the page you’ll see the “Welcome” option. Click on this option and a box will come up where you could enter HTML, CSS, and java Code. Basically almost anything you can use on a regular webpage. By creating you Fan page in this way you will give a good impression on the viewers, showing them that you are professional in what you do. In your Fan page I recommend that you add your Aweber Auto responder Code (more info on page 20) that will allow your viewers to subscribe to your newsletters or whatever you’d like to send to them. •Optimizing your Fan Page On the left under the “About” section click on “edit” and you will be taken to the basic information page. In this page try to enter as much valid information as you can. Make sure that you use keywords related to your websites content and click on save changes when you’re done. Add a profile picture to your account and also add a picture related to the specific fan page - click on the fan page, hover over the picture box (top left) and select “choose/change picture”. You can create as many fan pages as you like, giving you the option to create one for each of your products. If you have friends from other Social accounts add them by selecting “Find Friends” on the tag on the right. It would be a good idea to create a button on your website that links to your Facebook welcome fan page or to your Facebook account. Twitter •Go to www.twitter.com and create a twitter account to promote your website and products. Make sure to use a unique and attractive picture/logo for your profile. I also suggest using one of your domain email addresses. If available, try using your domain name as your twitter username for SEO. Example: website: www.affiliateworld.com, twitter username: affiliateworld •Edit and fill in your profile information. •Try to follow up to 500 people per day. When searching for people to follow, search for people related to your niche but not necessarily directly related. A good method is to find another affiliate marketing Business or related business that seems to be doing well, view their twitter profile and select either that company’s “following” or “followers” and begin to follow them. This will get you followers that are interested in your related products since they are already following someone that offers similar products. •A large number of the people that you follow will follow you back. From my experience approximately 1/3 of them. Keywords •Choosing your keywords Imagine that you’re going to search for a product related to your niche. Ask yourself: What would I type in Google to find “Weight Loss methods”? For example Begin by listing these phrases under each other. I suggest you list at least 10 phases preferably with 3 or more words per phrase. Examples: Weight loss tips weight loss guide how to lose weight fast how to lose fat a healthy Diet lose weight easily lose fat with little effort weight loss guide help with losing weight You probably will not use most or even all of the words above as your Keywords. What you do with these words is copy them into a notepad for now. Next create a Google Adwords account by clicking on this link: adwords.google.com/ You will also need a Gmail account. If you don’t have one get one here: www.gmail.com After you create your Adwords account, log in and go to Reporting and Tools and choose “Keyword Tool” from the dropdown menu. Start from the first Keyword that you thought of, copy it and paste it in under “word or phrase” and enter your website domain name under: “Website”. Make sure that under “Advanced Options and Filter” the Location is set to: “All” and devices set to: “desktop and Laptop”. Now click on “Search” and a list of keywords will begin to show up. What you need to do is find keywords that (a) you would type in Google to search for your products (b) have global monthly searches of about 5,000/6,000 (c++) have low competition – the lower the better. About 1/5 of the competition bar or less should be full. Important: All the keywords must have all the three (a), (b) and (c) aspects above, at once. Browse through a couple of the keyword result pages then try the other words that you came up with earlier in page: 12. Preferably you should end up with approximately 20 keywords not including the words that you came up with earlier in page: 12. From the words that you thought of in page: 12 you should only use the ones that have the “(a),(b),(c)” aspects if there even are any that have those aspects. Save the keywords in you Affiliate management system excel sheet. Auto responder & Email List Builder Create an account with Aweber. Go to www.aweber.com and set up an account. Once you log in you will notice steps at the bottom of the page that guide you with the step up process and a percentage % bar showing your Aweber profiles completion status. First you will have to create you list so enter your details under (1) Basic information. Under (2) Notifications type, enter the email that you want to receive notification emails on, to inform you when someone subscribes. Save the basic info page. Enter the (1) Company Branding details and if you have set up a Facebook or Twitter account you can give Aweber Email Marketing access to use your account in the (2) Social media section. Save your settings The (1) Confirm opt in page will come up. This is the message that subscribers will receive in order to confirm their subscription.You can edit this email as you like but try to keep it simple yet professional. (2) Require Opt-In on web form. I recommend that you leave this turned on to abide by the subscription policies of all subscribers. (3) Success page. This is the webpage that will load the confirmation of subscription. You can either create a welcome page in your website or enter your Home URL. Note: include http://www in the URL box. The nest step (that you can select by clicking on the setup wizard at the bottom of the page) is to create the welcome email. This email will be sent to the subscriber once the subscription has been confirmed. Creating a web form. Design: Style it anyway you like to match your website or fan page. Make sure to size it accordingly if you are going to try and fit it into a certain module in your website. Settings: Select your desired settings. In the thank you page option I personally like to use the Smart Video option. Save your settings for each step. Publish: In this step choose I will install my form. Open notepad and copy paste the javascript snippet. Save the notepad file and rename it to your list name-javascript. Open another notepad file and copy paste the RAW HTML version with “include beautiful form styles” checked, save it and create another notepad file with the same checkbox NOT checked and save it. You can easily copy and paste this code into your website so I recommend saving all these three types of code for compatibility purposes. Subscribe yourself to one of your own lists to test your auto responder form and fix any errors if needed. Adwords Adwords is very efficient and could generate a lot of traffic. The only problem is that this CPC (cost per click) or PPC (Pay Per Click) software is not free or cheap. That being said there are still a number of ways that you could get the most out of Adwords without spending a cent, at least for a certain amount of time. So now I’ll tell you how: Adwords vouchers aren’t the hardest things to come by. They are often giveaway with hosting account and other related products but in the end you still have to buy something first to obtain them. With your first Adwords voucher in hand log in to your Adwords account or create one if you haven’t done so yet. In this section I am not going to address the obvious information like: enter your address, choose your currency and so on. I am going to explain the following which I think are the most important: •Campaigns 1.Settings 2.Ads 3.Keywords •Reporting and Tools1.Keyword tool (explained in pages 12/13) 2.Traffic Estimator •Billing 1.Billing Summary Under Campaigns tab, click on create your first campaign unless you have already create your campaign. Under Locations and Languages select the desired country/countries that you wish you target or select bundle (all countries and territories). Under bidding and budget put in the number “1” under budget (this will be changed later on). For now you may leave the rest of the settings as they are and click on save and continue at the bottom of the page. In the AD section begin creating your Ad or Ads. Make sure to refer to the keyword list that you created earlier in page 13. Use words that are in your Keyword list when creating your Ad. Do not use a lot of capital letter or your Ad will get disapproved. Type in the display URL and the actual URL of your website.Most users use the same website URL in as the one to be displayed on the Ad in order to keep your customers trust. Under keywords copy and paste the keywords list that you created earlier. Click on save and continue. Select your country and click on continue. Enter your billing details and click on continue.Now select manual payments and click on continue. Tick yes I agree and select Submit and activate my account. Select finish billing setup. Now go to reporting and tools and select traffic estimator. Paste all your keyword under word or phrase. Under Max CPC enter about $5 Dollars or its equivalent. Under daily budget enter about $100 dollars or its equivalent. (Just for testing purposes). In the sidebar on the left you will see summary with: Average estimated CPC (cost per click) - you want this to be as low as possible. Total estimated clicks (per day) – the higher the better. Total estimated cost (per day) – should try to keep under $10 dollars or its equivalent. What we are going to do is to balance out these three points as much as possible. (1) Average estimated CPC (2) Total estimated clicks (3) Total estimated cost So with the max CPC at $5 dollars and daily budget at $100 dollars take note of the values under Summary. Example: Average estimated CPC: $1.67 - $2.04 Total estimated clicks: 19.67 – 24.04 Total estimated cost: $36.41 – $44.50 Start putting in different values in the Max CPC box and Daily budget box until you come up with the Max CPCand daily budgetvalues that you think make most sense. Make sure to play around with both of these values for some time to make sure that you don’t put up your Max CPC limit by $0.5dollars for example for just 0.4 more total estimated clicks. Go to billing summary under Billing. Next to payment options click on more actions and select Apply a promotional code. Enter the promotional code and click on submit. Now a page should come up showing the value of the promotional code that you have just added to your Adwords account in the currency that you set for your account earlier. Although everything is set up it doesn’t necessarily mean that your Ads are being displayed right away. Go to campaigns and click on Ads. Next to your Ad you will see status. Then main statuses are:Approved, Under review, Disapproved and Paused. In order for your Ad to be displayed the status must be approved. If the status is set to under review, keep checking back to see if Google has approved or disapproved your Ad. If your Ad has been disapproved you will have to find out why, edit and arrange your Ad, save and it will go under review again. If all is okay the status will show Approved. Now click on keywords. Next to every keyword under status you will see a small white square shaped speech bubble, click on it and a box with these titles will show: “Displaying Ads right now?” and “Quality score”. Displaying Ads right now should be Yes. If not you will be given a reason as to why the Ad is not being displayed. Preferably the Quality score should be 5/10 or above. Not all of your Keywords need to be displayed at the same time but if all of your keywords are not being displayed then you should check it out and fix the problem either by contacting Google or by using what you learnt through this guide and solve it yourself. If all of the above are correct than you should be getting several visitors to your website every day until your Adwords voucher has been used up. Adsense Adsense is a system in which you can display other people’s ads in your own website while getting paid for every time an authentic click is made on one of these Ads through your website. Visit www.google.com/adsense to create an account. Once you have entered your details into the form on the Adsense website you should receive an E-mail including steps to complete the set up process. These steps will involve you having to enter a code (that is listed in the email) into your website. This needs to be done in order for Google to be able to confirm that the website is yours. After you have uploaded the Google Adsense confirmation code into your website you will be directed to click on a link (that is in the email) where you have to specify the URL of where the Google Adsense confirmation code is located. Example: http://www.yourdomain.com/adsesnsecode After you have submitted these details the Google Adsense team should contact you by email within a couple of days, informing you if your account has been approved or not. If it was not approved you will be given a brief reason as to why and you will be given another chance to complete the submission after you have corrected the problem. During the time that your account is being reviewed you are still given access to your account and will still be able to display Ads on your website but if your account is not approved your Ads will not be displayed until you have resubmitted your details again. Before attempting to apply for an Adsense account I recommend you having at least five unique Articles on your website. Once logged into your Adsense account, to create Ads you have to select new ad and you will be able to choose from a selection of sizes, shapes and colors for each Ad. When you’re done click on save and get code, copy the code and paste it into your its desired location in your website. The new Ads that you create may take some time to begin functioning so be patient. Once everything is confirmed and set up you can check back to your Adsense account to see how much money you have made. Note: Be sure NOT to click on any of the Ads yourself. Not even to test them or you’ll have to resubmit your application again and your Ads will be temporarily disabled. Youtube Create a Youtube account for your website visitors. If used well, Youtube can help you drive traffic to your website and help you make Sales. When promoting products on Youtube you don’t necessarily need to create your own videos. What a lot of affiliate marketers do is submit the videos of their product that they got from another source and put their affiliate product hop link in the description, also often providing information about the Bonuses that they offer on purchase of their product through the link provided. A good idea is to merge two videos together or a video with a still image displaying your website URL or anything you think will help with sales at the beginning and end/beginning or end of the video. A good way to do achieve this is by visiting www.youtube.com/editor where you can use videos currently on Youtube or upload your own and edit them.
